GIS Fundamentals

Course Brief

This course paves a conceptual base for GIS beginners and practical experience with GIS software. The duration of this course is 50 hours covered in two weeks and divided into 10 lectures; each lecture is 5 hours in length.

Course Objectives:

  • To comprehend GIS fundamentals
  • To become familiar with the software
  • Understanding geography and Projection basic concepts
  • To grasp the merits and differences between vector and raster data models
  • Getting basic skills in spatial data creation, editing and exchanging

Target Groups:

This course is designed for the students, employees, executives, managers and professionals in the various public sectors and private organizations who have no experience with GIS.

Prerequisite

Students should have basic computer skills as well as good English language skills
